Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Chicken Skewers
Jump to Recipe
Why the flavor is so good:

Bright, zesty lemon:
Lemon zest and juice are key components of the flavor. The citrus provides a vibrant, zesty aroma that cuts through the richness of the chicken and other ingredients.
Bold, earthy black pepper:
Freshly cracked black pepper provides a spicy and earthy contrast to the lemon. Grinding it fresh, if possible, creates a more pronounced, vibrant pepper flavor.
Savory aromatics:

Recipes often include savory aromatics like garlic and onion powder, which add depth and richness to the flavor profile.
Juicy, tender chicken:
When prepared correctly, the skewers result in incredibly tender and flavorful chicken. This is especially true for recipes that use chicken thighs, which have a richer flavor and higher fat content than breasts, or recipes that call for a marinade to tenderize the meat.
Marinating and basting:

Marinating the chicken allows the flavors to penetrate the meat thoroughly, and basting it during cooking can build a rich, flavorful crust.Â
Why they are so good for you:
No added sugar:
Rich in high-quality protein:

Chicken is an excellent source of high-quality, lean protein, which is vital for building and maintaining muscle mass. Protein also promotes satiety, helping you feel fuller for longer, which can support weight management.
Low in saturated fat:
Recipes often use lean chicken breast or skinless chicken to minimize saturated fat content, making the meal a heart-healthy option.
Aligns with ketogenic principles:
As a keto-friendly meal, the skewers are naturally very low in carbohydrates. This forces the body into a state of ketosis, where it burns fat for energy instead of glucose. This shift in metabolism is linked to benefits such as improved blood sugar control and weight loss.
Source of healthy fats:

To meet the high-fat requirements of the keto diet, these recipes often include healthy fats from sources like olive oil or avocado oil in the marinade.
Nutrient-dense:
Beyond protein, chicken provides important vitamins and minerals such as B-group vitamins (B3, B6, B12), iron, zinc, and selenium, which support energy metabolism, brain function, and the immune system.
In Summary:
Keto lemon pepper chicken skewers are delicious and good for you due to a powerful combination of flavor-enhancing ingredients, the health benefits of lean chicken, and the characteristics of the ketogenic diet
